Tea Time is the first of four Apps in Dr. Suzy Lederer’s I Can Play That book of pretend play. Tea Time provides opportunities for the child to practice pretending and communicating using special time words (first, next, and then, last) that pretend play sequences require. Feeding a teddy bear a cup of tea soon becomes a sequenced tea party in both English and Spanish. In addition to enjoying the story sung in English and/or Spanish the child can practice retelling the story by touching the blinking pictures in the game at the end of the story. For free blackline drawings for your children’s hands-on activities follow the link to the Children’s Publishing Web Site and click on the “Downloads” link in the top right corner. Then scroll down to Tea Time App blackline drawings. Or, if you purchase the book, you will receive an included CD-ROM from which you can print all the blackline drawings.

At any time during the story of Tea Time you can click the small arrow in the left bottom corner and this will take you to the opening page. Once the last page (information page) is on the screen there is an exit button that will take you back to the opening page.

Thanks to Dr. Susan Lederer, professor of speech-language pathology, and Jenny Loehr, illustrator and speech-language pathologist, for allowing us to use these words and pictures in this app. Dr. Lederer has written several books for speech-language pathologists, children and parents that address early language development, pretend play and yoga for children.
